The Peruvian renewable energy auction system has been quite successful. At the end of 2016, there were 575 MW of non-conventional renewable electricity generation capacity in operation in the system (of which 96 MW were from solar power and 243 MW were from wind power, and the remaining 336 MW came from small hydropower plants); representing 4.7% of total installed capacity, with a power production of 2,287 GWh (4.73% of total system production of 48,326 GWh).
